Recent renovations to the Amberley, Cheviot and Waikari Clinics and the newly rebuilt Culverden clinic show we are serious about the provision of quality care. As a practice we have upgraded our Amberley Waikari and Culverden clinics in order to provide for more complex procedures and higher dependency care. Services (Custom)

Consultations

These are by appointment at each of our clinics, please call your nearest location.

During our 15 minute consultations we believe that nothing is more important than a thorough clinical examination of your pet, allowing subtle or non-visible changes that you may miss at home to be diagnosed early.
Our veterinary team is also assisted by your observations of subtle changes and so it is helpful to have a care giver present at the time of consultation.

We believe in preventative health care and encourage regular worming and vaccination against preventable diseases. By request we are also able to arrange worm tablets to be posted to your home.

Wellness clinics

We offer Wellness clinics for the older dogs and cats with our ”Grey Paws” scheme, with the aim of providing preventative health care for pre-geriatric and geriatric patients. These are extended examinations and a blood test specially tailored to the older patient. Our aim is to detect early diseases such as arthritis, urinary tract problems, heart and lung conditions and growths in order to extend both quantity and quality of life.

At the other end of the age spectrum “Puppy preschools”, organised by our Head nurse Christine in Amberley, provide a safe and ideal environment to socialise the young puppy.

Weight loss clinics are another very important part of pet care. In these we provide support and information for the dieting pets, also run by our wonderful and dedicated nursing team.
Blood Bank

A recent initiative is to hold blood for transfusion to our critically ill poisoning and accident cases. This supply is held at our Amberley clinic.

Diagnostic Imaging

We have a wide range of imaging equipment with which we can take, process and assess x-rays from a wide range of species from kittens to horses. We are able to take dental radiographs, allowing full assessment of your pet’s teeth prior to any dental treatment.

Ultrasonography and endoscopy are another essential part of our diagnostic armoury, allowing non-
invasive diagnosis of many disease processes and conditions. Our Equine crush at the Amberley clinic allows safe and efficient handling of our equine patients, where endoscopy of the upper airways, Diagnostic Imaging (2) (Custom)radiography and ultrasonography allow a full lameness work up to be performed.

A recent addition is a fluoroscope or ”image eye” at Amberley allowing our veterinary team to study real time images of swallowing right through to intraoperative imaging.

The In-house Laboratory

Having an in-house laboratory means we can perform basic diagnostic tests such as smears and urinalysis quickly and efficiently. The Vetscan blood analysers based at Amberley and Culverden clinics can rapidly assess an animal’s biochemistry status saving valuable time sending the sample to the laboratory in Christchurch. This is essential in an emergency or when the laboratory is closed, such as after hours.
Dentistry

Many of our pets suffer in silence with marked dental pain from broken or abscessed teeth. We are able to provide a wide range of dental care from prevention to cure at each of our clinics. Each clinic has a good range of dental care products as well as the latest advances in dental care foods.

Our latest model IM3 dental machine at Amberley has allowed dentistry to be taken to the next level with dental radiogrDentistry (Custom)aphy, allowing assessment of the tooth roots and routine nerve  blocks allow pain free extraction of any problem teeth. High speed dental equipment, ultrasonic de- scaling and purpose built polishing unit can offer a service similar to what you would expect at your own Dentist.

Surgery and Medicine

We have a number of experienced veterinarians within the practice, with a wide range of skills to attend to most surgical and medical conditions encountered with our pets. A backup specialist service is available when required.

Each of our clinics offers routine surgery with the more complicated cases dealt with in our sterile surgery suites in Amberley and Culverden such as advanced soft tissue surgery, through to major orthopaedic repairs.
Surgery and Medicine We have a dedicated team of experienced nurses monitoring patient anaesthesia, blood pressure and fluid therapy requirement throughout every surgical procedure. Patient aftercare and hospitalisation is provided post-operatively by our nursing team in our heated
kennelling areas.
Pet Supplies

Finally, each of our clinics stocks a wide range of pet Pet Supplies (Custom)essentials such as collars, training treats, dental care products, nutritional supplements, shampoos and quality food. Along with these products you will be able to access expert advice in their use.
